Dehua White Porcelain Standing Ksitigarbha Sculpture

Standing upright in a monk's robe, Ksitigarbha carries a separate gold-toned staff and a flaming jewel. The white porcelain keeps the figure visually restrained, allowing the tall staff, calm face and long vertical folds to define the composition.

Ksitigarbha, known in China as Dizang, is the bodhisattva associated with the Great Vow to aid beings through difficult realms. Historic examples in the British Museum identify the same key attributes: the monk's staff and the radiant jewel. For many households, a Dizang figure therefore carries prayers of steadfast protection, remembrance, filial devotion, and the resolve to remain present in times of difficulty.

Four scales let the same clear iconography serve very different spaces. The smaller figures suit a private shelf or compact altar; the 45 cm version gives the standing form enough height for a substantial console or dedicated devotional setting. The removable staff should be handled and packed separately.
