Jingdezhen Qianlong-Style Underglaze Red Globular Vase

On this vase, the red lotus scroll does not simply sit on the surface; it circles the full rounded body. The globular profile gathers that movement into a compact mass, while the tall flared neck releases it upward through narrow floral and geometric borders.

Underglaze red is painted with a copper-bearing pigment beneath the glaze and high-fired with the porcelain. Because copper color is highly sensitive to kiln atmosphere, achieving a clear red has historically been one of Jingdezhen's more demanding decorative effects. Against the white ground, the continuous lotus scroll reads with both ceremony and motion.

The ordered registers and dense floral field look to Qianlong-period decorative language. The lotus adds a wish for purity and renewal, while the copper-red palette gives that familiar imperial-style structure a warmer, less common presence. A decorative Qianlong-style reign mark appears on the base.

At 31 cm / 12.2 in high, the rounded body gives the vase substantial cabinet or console presence without requiring a large room. A fitted dark wooden stand and presentation box complete the display.
