Jingdezhen Hand-Thrown Oxblood-Red Miniature Porcelain Vases

Langhong is known in Western collections as oxblood or sang-de-boeuf, a demanding high-fired red-glaze tradition associated with Jingdezhen. Its appeal is not a flat red but color that deepens, softens, or gathers across the fired surface. On these contemporary miniature vases, narrow white lines at selected rims and feet keep each profile sharply defined.

The tradition is associated with Lang Tingji, who supervised the imperial kilns at Jingdezhen in the early eighteenth century as copper-red wares were revived. These contemporary vases bring that celebrated red-glaze language into five intimate, water-ready forms.

The hand-thrown profiles change the way the red is seen. It rises through the tall Meiping and slender teardrop, spreads across the curved Yuhuchun and pomegranate bodies, and settles into the low squat form. Choose one for a single fresh stem or small water-rooted cutting; together, the five make the historical color itself the subject of a shelf, study, or cabinet.
