Jingdezhen Hand-Thrown Pale-Blue Crackle-Glaze Miniature Vases

A fine crackle network moves through the pale-blue glaze of these three hand-thrown Jingdezhen porcelain vases. Near the foot, the blue gathers more densely, giving each small form a darker visual anchor.

The set moves from the upright, rounded Shangping profile to a slender teardrop and a compact pomegranate form. Because there is no painted motif, the eye stays on the glaze lines, the pooling of color, and the change in proportion from one silhouette to the next.

Shang ping is commonly translated in auction catalogues as “reward vase.” The form emerged in the Yongzheng period and took its name from vessels bestowed upon officials. Here, that historical upright silhouette is interpreted at miniature scale beside two more organic profiles, giving the three-piece set a clear shift from formal to fluid.

Use one vase with a single fine branch, fresh cutting, or dry stem, or place all three together where the crackle can be read across different forms.
