Jingdezhen Thick-Walled Tea Set for Two: Doucai-Inspired Lotus
▪ BESPOKE ARCHIVAL PACKAGING WITH EVERY ACQUISITION
This four-piece tea set for two features hand-thrown porcelain bodies crafted in Jingdezhen. Designed for a shared tea session, the set centers around a 150 ml thick-walled gaiwan and includes an 18 cm brewing tray (hucheng). The set is completed by two yashou (press-hand) tasting cups in distinct sizes (110 ml and 80 ml).
The vessels are decorated with a traditional scrolling lotus motif. The design is inspired by the classic doucai palette, applied using a in-glaze transfer technique. During firing at 1300°C, the transfer decoration fuses into the glaze layer, creating a smooth, durable surface that is easy to rinse.
The noticeably thicker porcelain walls (houtai) give the vessels a substantial feel in hand. The set has passed standardized thermal shock testing, withstanding sudden temperature changes from 180°C to 20°C without cracking.
Please note: The glass sharing pitcher shown in the styling images is not included in the set.
